One Direction - One Thing

"One Thing" is a song by British-Irish boy band One Direction taken from their debut studio album, Up All Night (2011). It was released as a promotional single on 6 January 2012, in various European countries. It was released in the UK on 12 February 2012 as their third single. The song also served as the band's second single in the United States being sent to radio formats on 22 May 2012. Written by Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk and Savan Kotecha, and produced by Yacoub and Kotecha, "One Thing" is an uptempo pop rock song. "One Thing" received positive reviews from critics, the song was commended for its chorus, catchy melody and guitar riff.

"One Thing" reached the top ten on the Australian Singles Chart, UK Singles Chart, Scottish Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart, while reaching the top forty on the New Zealand Singles Chart, Flanders Ultratop 50, Canadian Hot 100, and the United States Billboard Hot 100. The music video for "One Thing" was directed by Declan Whitebloom and premiered on 13 January 2012. The video features One Direction performing in and around London, including on the top of a bus, on a set of park steps and in front of a group of buskers. Critics lauded the music video for its simplistic nature. The band have performed the song live on television shows, including on the British Dancing on Ice and on the American Today at the Rockefeller Center.
